How to Open a.Pages Format File in Windows & Microsoft Word. Jul 16, 2014 - 152 Comments. The Pages app is the Mac word processor similar to Microsoft Word on the Windows side of things, and by default any Pages document is saved as a Pages format file with with a “.pages” file extension. I had the option to download the file as a pdf.
Dumbed-down, stripped down version of earlier Pages version. Still using Pages 4.3 from iWork 09 bundle.
'Streamlined' app means loss of features, and a more challenging GUI and UX when using the latest versions of Pages/Keynote/Numbers. I am assuming loss of features etc is to ensure compatability with iPad versions of the same apps. A pity - Apple dumbed down the OSX versions rather than beefing up the iOS versions.Sticking with iWork 09 apps for as long as OSX allows! 5 stars for '09 apps, 1 star for current. I want the most suitable version of Pages for my Early 2008 the last 17 inch MacBook Pro.I have to use it with El Capitan, because it would not take Sierra!I have to use 17 inch screen because of my eyesight.Where do I get proper version of Pages?I wish Pages could develop blue background with white or orange letters – best visibility of text, proven at stock exchanges and flight controllers. I am a journalist and translator and have to read hundreds of pages every day. I hope Pages with blue background would help me.Mark Lech Jaworski [email protected].
Pages is the answer to the wildly popular Microsoft Word that is frequently used by PC users around the world. With the launch of the OS Mavericks, Apple has tried to change the definition of Pages with a beautiful new interface, some powerful tools for editing and a few great templates as well. The new Pages application is elegant, intuitive and comes with a really useful collaboration feature.

For users of Microsoft Word or even the older Pages application, getting to know the new Pages might take some time but it is definitely worth the effort. It comes free with new Mac products and can be purchased separately or with the iWork Suite as well. Graphics are always an area Apple excels in, which can be seen here as well.Apple, as usual, has gone for a very visual design. The code has been completely rewritten and there are over 60 new templates available. The interface is visually appealing.
The toolbar has been simplified with a new format panel. The header and footer can be applied directly by clicking on the document. If someone has a link to the document, they view or collaborate on its latest version through iCloud. The language support has also been improved with the new version. The bottom line on Apple Pages is that it not only looks great, it works extremely well too. The tables, graphics and charts are great options and it has a more unified format that can even handle the MS Word documents.
